Celebrating Small Business Month: Building with Purpose
At RedTeam, we believe that small businesses are the backbone of the construction industry. During Small Business Month, we’re proud to celebrate companies like Beraht Construction—a testament to the grit, faith and ingenuity it takes to build a successful business from the ground up.
Building a business—and a legacy
When you speak to Michael Roberts, founder of Beraht Construction, you’re not just learning about another general contractor. You’re hearing a story of transformation, determination, and belief in something bigger.
Michael’s path into construction wasn’t traditional. He began his professional journey in fashion merchandising and graphic design, followed by work in music production and retail. But even before he was building structures, he was building ideas—DJ sets, t-shirt brands and eventually, a vision for something greater.
That vision took shape after he returned to Katy, Texas in the mid-2000s and joined his father’s construction company. He dove headfirst into the trade, learning everything from estimating and supplier management to financial operations. But real growth rarely comes without obstacles. A business split, a major flood, and a failed product line could have ended the dream. Instead, they became the foundation for a new beginning.
That’s when Michael founded Beraht Construction—a company grounded in honesty, intention, and belief.
A partner in every project
Today, Beraht Construction is a trusted commercial general contractor managing build-outs across Texas, including hundreds of Five Below retail locations. But Michael’s team is more than a builder. They guide their clients from permitting to design to execution, providing the support and confidence small business owners and developers need when navigating the often complex construction process.
In Michael’s words: “You have to invest in people… If you just take, take, take and don’t invest in people, you’re going to stunt your business’s growth.”
That philosophy shows up in everything Beraht Construction does. From how Michael supported his early employees—sometimes paying them more than he made — to how the company partners with entrepreneurs and developers to bring their visions to life, Beraht isn’t just constructing buildings — they’re building bright futures.
