Joanne Carrabis

Iron Fish Construction, LLC | Blackfin Real Estate

“I am honored to be nominated once again as a Women in Construction honoree and truly grateful for the path that has led me here. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to many facets of the industry, including land development, bond and agreement consulting, budgeting and financial planning, multi-family renovation and capital improvement project management. Each experience has strengthened my expertise, expanded my perspective and shaped me both professionally and personally.”

Rachel De Oliveira

ProRails USA

“My journey has been driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for building something meaningful. With over 20 years in the Hospitality and Tourism industry, I built a career rooted in excellence, leadership and a commitment to quality.

Ten years ago, I moved from Brazil to the United States and co-founded ProRailsUSA with my husband, a full-service company specializing in manufacturing, powder coating and installation of miscellaneous metals. Entering a traditionally male-dominated field as a foreign woman was both challenging and empowering, and it strengthened my resilience, creativity and determination to make an impact.

I lead with passion and purpose, and I hope my journey inspires other women to embrace opportunities, pursue their goals boldly and build their own paths with confidence and courage.”

Rachel’s story highlights how determination and entrepreneurship can open doors and create new opportunities within the construction industry.

Kathy Crow

Wharton-Smith, Inc. | Construction Group of Choice

“As a woman dedicated to the construction industry, I have come to deeply appreciate the unique challenges and opportunities we encounter in this field. Embracing continuous learning and professional growth has been essential for me—not only to expand my expertise, but also to confidently engage with stakeholders from all corners of the industry. My commitment to ongoing development has given me the tools and perspective needed to navigate complex situations and contribute meaningfully to every project I undertake.

I have intentionally sought out roles in special projects, participated in industry events and connected with organizations that champion women in construction. These experiences have enriched my knowledge and enabled me to form strong, supportive relationships with professionals across departments and companies. By consistently stepping forward, collaborating and advocating for inclusion, I have strengthened my network, honed my leadership skills and worked to create more welcoming spaces for women in our industry.

My journey underscores the importance of resilience, lifelong learning and building a vibrant professional community—key factors that have fueled my growth and success in this traditionally male-dominated sector.”

Kathy’s story underscores the importance of professional development, collaboration and community within construction.

Kelly Klein

La Roza Construction

“Breaking Barriers & Building a Legacy

I never set out to work in construction—I found my way here by chance. My background was rooted in corporate roles, including commercial insurance, banking and even teaching for over five years. In 2017, we purchased La Roza Construction, stepping into an industry that was entirely new to me. My role started in payroll and office management, but as the company grew, so did my responsibilities—expanding into human resources, accounting, sales, marketing, business development and ultimately, the role of CEO.

Today, I still wear many hats, but my focus remains steadfast on business financials, strategy and creating a well-oiled machine—one that delivers a consistent customer experience and seamless internal processes every single time.

Balancing my role as a business leader and a mother of two young children (ages 8 and 9) has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. Being actively involved in their lives while steering LRC toward ambitious goals is a constant juggle, but one I take pride in. Showing my children what hard work, perseverance and leadership look like means everything to me—I hope it shapes who they become.

La Roza Construction is just scratching the surface of what’s possible, and I have lofty goals for the future. I am honored to be recognized by RedTeam alongside other incredible women making an impact in construction. Together, we are redefining what leadership looks like in this industry.”

Kelly’s journey shows how unexpected career paths can lead to powerful leadership roles in construction.
